Octavian Empire: Overview

The Octavian Empire
| Octavius' culture has been misrepresented by
outsiders as crude, coarse, and even animalistic. Although the Way of
the Warrior is highly lauded by most, if not all, of Octavius, the
warrior's code can be likened to that of a classical Knight. Many
knights, it must be admitted, profess allegiance to darker lords than
others. Warriors are expected to defend their castella, their syncla,
their families, and their honor from all threats, in exchange for the
support and loyalty of those they defend. They are sworn to their liege
lords, as well as their subjects, to the protection of their newly
reclaimed land, the farmers and citizens residing on them, and to
answer any call of arms. |

Council of 30
| The Council of 30 is a body of leaders
formed from the ranks of the Nobility, and the Halls. The Council
advises, guides, and even directs the Emperors and the Nobilty in all
matters of state and policy. This body is comprised of 3 "Advisors"
(one for each Emperor), 3 "Ministers" (War, Trade, Knowledge), and 9
Masters. (3 each War, trade, Knowledge) There may be no more than 2
Nobles in any Branch of Mastery, although a Noble may become an
Advisor, and one day aspire to become Emperor themselves. |

Nobility
| The Nobility are the only class permitted to
administer and manage cities, fiefdoms, provinces, planets, stations,
sectors, and quadrants. This tradition is a long-standing one, and the
best efforts of the warrior class have been unable to dislodge them
from what they feel to be their hereditary posts. |

The Halls
| The Halls of Octavius are comprised of it's
Warriors and Pilots. The Hall of Warriors is specifically for Warriors
culled from the ranks of the ground-based military, and marines. The
Hall of Valor is comprised completely of pilots, and is meant to give
them a large voice in the governance of their Empire. |

Hall of Valor
| The Hall of Valor is meant to give the
pilots of Octavia their "due", when it comes to governance of the
Empire. In the course of the recent revolts, pilots demanded, and were
given, an increased voice in governmental affairs. Needless to say, the
nobility were not pleased, but circumstances required the changes.
Their areas of responsibilty end at a planetary atmosphere. |

Hall of Warriors
| The Hall of Warriors is quite a bit older
than the Hall of Valor. In historical times, it was merely a venue for
warriors to vent their grievances with their commanders, rulers, and
overlords. Now, it has become a legitimate part of the government.
Their areas of responsibility are limited to the planetary surface.
