Why do you seek for the living among the dead?
Posted by RazorsKissMar 27
Hear the bells ringing, they’re singing
That we can be born again!
Hear the bells ringing, they’re singing
Christ is risen from the dead!
The angel, up on the tombstone
Said He is risen; just as He said!
Quickly now, go tell His disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead!
Joy to the world!
He is risen hallelujah!
He is risen hallelujah!
He is risen hallelujah, hallelujah!
Joy to the world, He’s risen! Hallelujah!
He’s risen, hallelujah!
He’s risen, hallelujah, hallelujah!
The angel, up on the tombstone
Said He has risen, just as He said!
Quickly now, go tell His disciples
That Jesus Christ is no longer dead!
Joy to the world, He has risen, hallelujah!
He’s risen, hallelujah!
He’s risen, hallelujah!
Hallelujah!

Thanks for the post. This is one of my favorite songs, Joshua, and one I hadn’t heard in years. It’s by the late Keith Green.

Actually, it isn’t. It’s by Annie Herring, of 2nd Chapter of Acts. Keith Green did it, in a slightly different version, with permission – as he was a close friend of theirs. it was on their “With Footnotes” album, (their first) in 1974.
Keith Green did his version in 1977, on his “For Him Who Has Ears To Hear” album 😀
It was written by Annie though 😀
I’m a 2nd Chapter AND Keith Green buff – my mother is our church’s music director – and I grew up on these two groups, with my mother’s milk – literally.
That being said… I love them both – and I LOVE 2nd Chapter. This song is perhaps THE best Easter song ever recorded.

In the words of the late Johnny Carson, “I did not know that.” It is perhaps the best Easter song ever recorded. Peace.

The question still stands: “Why do you seek for the living among the dead?” What Jesus told the Jews will know He is actually the “I Am Who I Am”, i.e., the living or self-sufficient source of life (as once revealed in a vision to to Moses, Ex. 3: 1-15) upon His crucifixion (John 8: 21-28)! That’s where we should seek and find the “living”!
