Apelles: Blogging out Loud
Posted by RazorsKissJun 24
The idea that blogs would succeed in the Christian community ought not be a surprise. When it comes to community, believers should always outstrip those who are not obedient to the Gospel. Believers should always out-community any unbelieving community, whether it be the local Kiwanis or the worshippers at the local football stadium. There’s no biblical directive to blog, but if blogging is community and believers are blogging, we ought to be outdoing any unregenerate blogging effort.
Did you catch that? Excellence – because we are His.
Check out the Blogdom of God, on the TLB communities page. We are the largest blogging community there is. Bar none. We have networked FAR beyond what we would be expected to – and we have more influence than you would expect – and far more readers from outside the Christian community than we will ever know about. I see them come by, like smoke – due to my referral logs, and traffic tracking. I know why they came, and i know why they come back. We have something they want to see. We take what we believe seriously – and we take what we have to say seriously.
Now, with my editorial comments at a close – read the rest of the post I referenced, from Apelles.
(I have them in my “extremely sharp” category for a reason – I reward excellence :D)
Now, if they would only fix their trackbacks…

Nothing to add to the discussion, I just wanted to thank you for the neat button you made to link to my site and the gracious compliments.
I am much encouraged by your evident love for the Brethren.

Greetings! Thanks for the encouraging words and link. I’ll have to look into the TrackBack thing. Didn’t know it was down.
I was reading through several of your entries, which made me think two things: 1. I know very little about the techie side of blogging and 2. I like your thoughts on organization in the blog world. For instance, I never knew of this site until you commented on mine (and how you found me might be quite a testament to providence :-).
Looking forward to becoming more familiar with you, your blog, and your community here.
Grace and peace

Wow, really an interesting perspective. I’ve never thought of it like that. God really has called us to excellence in all we do, hasn’t he? Thanks for the encouragment.

Heya Matthew! Brother, you really are an incredibly talented writer. You make me shake my head in disbelief about every other day, when I stop by. You really have a gift with words, my friend. It’s really a blessing.
Glad you like the button!

I found Apelles via your “Fundamentalism worth saving” discussion, actually. I was engaged in a discussion with someone about exactly what Fundamentalism meant – and a search for a quote (I don’t remember which one) brought me to your blog, because the content looked interesting. You’ve been on my blogroll (and working your way up the ladder on it) ever since.
Glad you stopped by. I’m too much of a lurker, as many have told me before – so, the best way to make me talk is to post on my blog! That’s a sure-fire way to get an answer, usually 😀
Once again, thanks for the good words 😀
I will likely be doing a series of posts on some technical stuff soon, incidentally.
